For Your SweetHeart Philippines is a nationwide movement to raise awareness about the critical link between diabetes and heart disease. It aims to encourage people with diabetes to know their risks and speak to their doctors about it.

Why a campaign on diabetes and heart disease?

According to the International Diabetes Federation (IDF), approximately 463 million adults (20-79 years) in the world are living with diabetes and this will rise to 700 million by 2045.1

• Diabetes caused an estimated 4.0 million deaths in 20171

• Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is the major cause of death and disability in people with Diabetes1

• People with Diabetes are 2 to 3 times more likely to have CVD1

The Philippines is one of the 39 countries and territories of the IDF Western Pacific region. As of May 2020, there are nearly four (4) million reported cases of diabetes in the Philippines, with a 6.3% prevalence rate of diabetes in adults.2

Over time, unmanaged diabetes can lead to complications such as heart disease. The good news is that patients can take small but life-changing steps towards protecting their hearts, even with diabetes. It begins with finding the right information, and taking action. If you are a patient with diabetes, For Your SweetHeart Philippines is here for you – providing the information and resources to help with successfully managing these risks.
